St Barnabas’ Theological College is the theological college for the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide. In 2011 the College will provide tertiary awards from Charles Sturt University through its affiliation with St Mark’s National Theological Centre, Canberra. The School of Theology at CSU is one of Australia’s premier providers of theological education and research. It has some 600 students, including over 80 Anglican ordinands from about twelve dioceses, and over 30 doctoral students. As one of Australia’s leading theological research institutions, it has a rigorous research focus in association with the University’s Public and Contextual Theology (PaCT) Strategic Research Centre which is committed to fostering a scholarly theological community that engages with contemporary society.
St Barnabas' is best described as Anglican in ethos and worship, with an ecumenical teaching faculty. Our adjunct lecturers are from the Anglican, Catholic, Uniting Church, Coptic Orthodox, Baptist and Churches of Christ traditions.
The College’s mission is to create a prayerful and hospitable community, where the Christian faith in all its richness, depth, and complexity can be studied thoughtfully and openly. As a college community we say Morning Prayer from Monday to Thursday at 9am, and on Fridays during term we celebrate the Eucharist at 8:30am. We also have a community lunch at 12pm every Friday during term time.
